JESSIE

I'm Jessie, creator of and artist behind MESSIE by Jessie, formerly known as 'The Messie Artist.' This business has become a sole part of my existence and I wouldn't want it any other way. Art has always been a constant in life for me; from an early age to now, I've never not been a creative being, in every possible aspect. As I've evolved, so have my creations as well as the intentions behind them. I once aimed to fuse nature with the human mind but the deeper I dive, I find that they're already one and I am now simply demonstrating the lessons I've learned in the process of becoming more in tune with myself while doing so. This discovery is what pushed me to change 'The Messie Artist' to 'MESSIE by Jessie', in the hope that you will see the person behind the creations and not just a business name claiming to be an artist.

 

I no longer want to just show you who I am behind a nickname, I want you to be able to know who I am, every part of me, the good and the bad. I find more happiness in my art when you not only connect with the piece I've made but me, the person who created it. That is my form of pure contentment and don't we all wish to be in a state of peace? What a force that you have the power to create that for me, what an artist you are.

Art, to me, is everything that makes up our soul all poured into some form of critical thinking. It can be words spoken or words written, pictures edited or the breeze in the air when they were taken, a masterpiece painting or a blank canvas; it's truly all in what we feel when we ponder what lays before our eyes. What's taken me a while to grasp in the modern world of art is that it's still all in the intent behind a piece, not the shiny result we may aim to achieve in a fast-paced, materialistic society. For so long, I too aimed to 'give the people what they want' which is often something pretty to look at but that was a disservice to me as an artist, my creation process, and the magic in what makes art 'art'. Anyone can make something pretty, an artist makes noise, and though I will always cater to the public, I now remember that I must also cater to me.

My journey with this concept and the business itself has intertwined with my healing journey as a person as well, which I find to be the most beautiful, unexpected outcome I could've been given by the universe. I always wanted to offer my creations to the world, though I will also always be in awe that they've been well received, so starting to do so was no question. As the business grew, I simultaneously did as well. I've watched myself blossom since I started, crawling out of the darkness and into the sun. Though I may have to fight to keep myself in the sun at times, sharing my art with you has only made doing so easier. As I continue to evolve, it's only fitting that the business that enabled this does so as well because you deserve the best of me, as do I.

Art has always been my constant because creating is what I do to seek freedom from my mind and I will forever be grateful that you care to share that freedom with me.
